  Corporation of the Township of Malahide
November 16, 2000 - 8:00 p.m.

Malahide Township Council met at the above time with all members present.
The Minutes of October 30th and November 2, 2000, were considered.  Council passed the following Resolution:

THAT the Minutes from the Road Tour November 4, 2000, be adopted as modified by noting that Councillor Cleminshaw was absent.

The front bud wheel installations on 4 of the Mack Tandem Trucks and excessive wear  was discussed.  Council directed that items be well documented with regard to the hubs & rims and directed all correspondence  be written and not verbal.  Council directed that a MTO representative be requested to observe the hubs & rims as soon as possible and report his findings back to Council by Friday at noon.  A written report from the MTO was also requested.   Council also directed that several quotes be obtained prior to doing any work.

The Drainage Superintendent was requested to attend to a property matter in Port Bruce and ensure that keys are available to provide access.

The Drainage Superintendent was also directed to contact the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to determine when a report would be available on the Simpson Drain.  In the future the Drainage Superintendent was requested to advise Council if there were delays occurring in the preparation of the Engineer’s Reports.

  Matters concerning the Springfield Sewage System were considered.  The following resolutions were passed:

THAT the Tender from D. R. McClintock & Son Well Drilling in the amount of $25,668.00 be accepted for drilling four deep wells in Springfield.

THAT the cost for decommissioning the wells at an estimated cost of $120.00 and the four well caps in the amount of $60.00 each be accepted.

  The Clerk was directed to update Council on the status of the K. Row pre-circulation OPA.
The Clerk was directed to bring the Property Standards By-law forward for Council’s reconsideration.
As this was the final Council Meeting of the current Council, a delegation of Council family members was present and Mayor van Kasteren made a presentation of thanks to Councillor Schaper and Councillor Dykxhoorn.
Deputy Mayor Wilson then proceeded to make a presentation of thanks to Mayor van Kasteren for his many years of service to the ratepayers of the Township of Malahide.

  Further to a tax registration on a property in Springfield 012-001-11599, the Township was unable to establish ownership on a landlocked parcel of land as the property was completely occupied by abutting property owners.  The Clerk was authorized to provide deeds/quit claim deeds to give title to abutting owners who possess the land and to clear the property from the assessment roll.
