BUYERS & PROCESSORS OF UNMANUFACTURERED TOBACCO

Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited – Aylmer Complex

Imperial Tobacco covers approximately 69 acres of land, of which, 32 acres are under roof.  The Imperial complex is comprised of four plants: a Green Leaf Threshing Plant, a Tobacco Reconstitution Plant, a Primary Plant and a Dry Ice Expanded Tobacco Plant.  Also included in the complex are eight warehouses with a storage capacity of 140 million pounds of tobacco.

An important function at Imperial in Aylmer is the purchasing of leaf tobacco for Imperial Tobacco’s domestic use as well as for export customers.  The main tobacco purchased is flue-cured, with smaller quantities of Dark Air-Cured and Dark Fire-Cured tobaccos also handled.

Imperial Tobacco is one of Canada's leading exporters of tobacco, shipping tobacco to over 30 different countries.  Shipments to export customers as well as to our manufacturing plants, are on a continuous, year-round basis.

The majority of people employed by Imperial Tobacco live in Aylmer or the surrounding area.   Through the years, the Company and it's employees have enjoyed a good relationship within the community and are involved in both cultural and social activities through donations, sponsorships and direct participation.

Imperial Tobacco Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of British American Tobacco (BAT).  BAT is the world’s most international tobacco group with its Head office in London, England and operations world wide.
